Kylian Mbappé will reportedly leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires in June. Many expect the Frenchman to join Real Madrid as a free agent, and one former player is happy to see the French connection grow.

Real Madrid have French players like Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurélien Tchouaméni. Additionally, the Spanish club have a history of talented players from France, so if Mbappé does join them this summer, he’ll add to that list.

Former French footballer Marcel Desailly spoke with OkDiario (h/t Bernabéu Digital) and noted his desire to see the 25-year-old join the La Liga team this summer, helping recreate the French link that Arsenal assembled in the past.

“If he arrives, it would be great. I mean, simply impressive. It would resemble Arsenal’s French connection. It’s just lovely. We’re pleased with how the French players are adapting. They perform admirably when they leave the country, without any fear. They excel with France and with Real Madrid.”

Diario AS recently conveyed an update on Mbappé and Real Madrid, mentioning that the PSG star is set to pocket an annual salary of about €15 million after taxes, along with 80 percent of his image rights.

This increase could almost double his yearly income as he begins a new chapter in the Spanish capital.
